Texel has a long North Sea coastline and extensive Wadden Sea and dune habitats, including National Park Duinen van Texel. The municipality works to protect Natura 2000 areas and coastal landscapes, while projects have explored nature-friendly shellfish cultivation and innovative marine energy as part of sustainable development.
